I possess a great interest in fiction writing and screenwriting because having the chance to be creative is what brings me joy.
My introduction to fiction writing began as an undergraduate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I declared English and Creative Writing as my major during my junior year. I never considered myself a writer in high school. However, my professors at the university helped me learn that I had a strong writing voice. With consistency and practice, I eventually became comfortable calling myself a writer. I wrote short fiction stories inspired by my favorite movies and television shows.
That experience helped give me the confidence to continue taking courses after college. I’ve taken fiction writing classes through the University of Chicago’s Graham School program. I’ve also taken writing classes at StoryStudio Chicago.
My introduction to screen writing began at Second City Chicago. I took improv and comedy writing classes that helped me learn to write better comedy and dialogue. It taught me what it's like to be in a writer's room and collaborate with others. I've also taken TV & Film writing classes at Second City that helped me learn filmmaking and how to tell a story.
I believe writing is about making people happy. Writing makes me happy, and I want to share that feeling with others.
